Princeton Stars Todd Harrity And Taylor Tutrone Capture Intercollegiate Doubles Crown

2012 Potter Cup hero Todd Harrity and his Princeton teammate Taylor Tutrone rose superior to a strong 20-team field this past weekend at the Racquet Club Of Philadelphia, host venue for the Intercollegiate Doubles tournament. Harrity, the senior captain whose victory at No. 1 clinched Princeton’s 5-4 win over Trinity College in the Intercollegiate Team Championship (ending Trinity’s 13-year run) this past February, partnered Tutrone to a four-game final-round triumph over top seeds Andrew McGuinness and Hunter Beck of the Naval Academy, a match which swung on the Tigers’ ability to win a pivotal third-game tiebreaker that preceded a convincing 15-6 close-out fourth game. SDA Tour Ready To Roll In Baltimore Next Month

The brand-new Squash Doubles Association (SDA) will launch its inaugural 2012-13 Tour in style with all the big guns heading to Baltimore on the second weekend of October for the $20,000 Maryland Club Open. Two-time defending champions Damien Mudge and Ben Gould will be the top seeds, with Manek Mathur and Yvain Badan, who gave Mudge/Gould their only defeat last season en route to winning the Briggs Cup, seeded second. Pro Doubles Tour Produces Promotional Video

The opening tournament of the newly formed Squash Doubles Association is still several months off, but the Association may have taken its first official step this past week in New York in the form of a three-day film shoot at the University Club and Racquet & Tennis Club from which a brief promotional video will be produced both as an addition to the Association web site (sdaprotour.com) and, more pertinently, for dissemination to potential sponsors within and outside of squash. New Pro North American Hardball Doubles Tour To Kick Off This Autumn

Dear Players,

In November 2011 we established a Pro Squash Doubles Advisory
Committee to draft a report examining the current state of play, the
existing business model and analogous business models of the tour. Our objective was to understand the longer-term opportunities for the Pro Tour. We organized three subcommittees to undertake the evaluation and to report findings on Research & Demographics, Tour Structure and Economics. Continue reading
