The Buffalo Club Open once again provided a strong close to the men’s SDA Pro Tour season, with $30,000 on the line at one of the tour’s most well-supported venues. The Buffalo Club once again proved to be an excellent host, with a strong field and a knowledgeable and enthusiastic crowd. Attention centered on the anticipated rematch between No. 1 seeds Matt Henderson and Josh Hughes and second seeds Charles Culhane and Daelum Mawji, following their recent meeting in the Tavern Club Open final. Both teams progressed through the draw with authority to set up the expected final.

Hughes and Henderson were particularly sharp in the semifinals, dominating Jaymie Haycocks and Adham Madi and conceding just 13 points in a one-sided performance. Culhane and Mawji, meanwhile, advanced with a straight-games win over Canadian duo Justin Todd and Cole Osborne. Todd and Osborne came out strongly, building an early lead in the opening game, but were unable to sustain the pressure, with forced play leading to errors that allowed Culhane and Mawji to take control.

The final itself was tighter than the 3–0 scoreline suggests. Culhane and Mawji edged the key moments, showing composure under pressure and capitalizing when it mattered most. Hughes and Henderson had their chances, particularly in the second game where they held two game balls that would have leveled the match, but were unable to convert, leaving themselves 2–0 down. In the third, they again led at 8–6 before conceding four straight points and losing momentum. The difference ultimately came down to error count, with Hughes and Henderson unable to maintain the consistency required at the critical stages. With the win, Culhane and Mawji backed up their Tavern Club Open title with another strong performance, continuing their upward trajectory and reinforcing their position as one of the form teams on tour.

The Buffalo Club Open once again featured a strong Canadian presence, particularly from the Toronto area, adding depth to the field and contributing to the event’s competitive and cross-border feel.
