Georgina Stoker & Kyle Martino celebrated their first title together at the Hashim Khan Mixed in Denver, CO, March 2-5. This event marks the first professional mixed tournament hosted at the Hashim Khan, which has historically alternated between men’s and women’s events.
Stoker & Martino opened their tournament with a 3-1 win over Denver-born siblings Preston & Meredeth Quick in the quarterfinals. The second-seeded pair proceeded to the semifinal, where they faced off against four-seeds Josh Hughes & Libby Eyre, securing another four-game win to proceed to the final.
In the top half of the draw, a close battle saw a strong challenge from qualifiers Michael Woods & Rachel Scherman against top seeds Adam Bews & Lauren West, coming down to the wire with Bews & West edging a 15-14 win in the fifth game to secure their spot in the semifinals. There they met French pair Celia Pashley & Lucas Rousselet for another five-game battle. This time it was four-seeds Pashley & Rousselet who came out on top, coming back from 2-1 down to cause the upset.
In the Sunday final, a strong start from both teams saw Martino & Stoker push through a tight first game to take lead, 15-13. From there, Martino & Stoker proceeded in top form, completing the next two games 15-5, 15-9 to claim the title with a 3-0 win.
