The Tompkins Cup returned to the SDA Pro Tour for the first time since 2019, as the Racquet Club of Philadelphia hosted a Men’s $20,000 event. With a strong field and enthusiastic local support, the weekend delivered a competitive and well-contested draw.
Following the late withdrawal of Josh Hughes and Kyle Martino, the top seeding shifted to Philadelphia Country Club head professional John Russell and NYAC professional Jaymie Haycocks. The experienced pairing made the most of the opportunity, navigating a challenging path through the draw before delivering a commanding performance in the final.
Russell and Haycocks secured the title with a dominant 3–0 victory over second seeds Andrew Muran and Sergio Martin, closing out the match in just 45 minutes. Their route to the final was not without challenge, as they were pushed in a hard fought four game semi-final by local pairing Yash Bhargava and Lucas Rousselet, where experience ultimately proved decisive.
Elsewhere in the draw, Canadian duo Josh Kay and Jackson Kay returned to competition, adding depth to the field, while local teams including Sam Fenwick and Chris Longman contributed to a strong showing from Philadelphia-based players throughout the weekend.
The victory marks Russell’s 24th SDA title, a significant milestone that further underscores his longevity and continued impact on the tour. As the tour pushes into the final stretch of the season, attention now turns to the next stop at the Tavern Club Open in Ohio, with the biggest event still to come, the Men’s $65,000 Kellner Cup in New York City this April.
