The opening tournament of the newly formed Squash Doubles Association is still several months off, but the Association may have taken its first official step this past week in New York in the form of a three-day film shoot at the University Club and Racquet & Tennis Club from which a brief promotional video will be produced both as an addition to the Association web site (sdaprotour.com) and, more pertinently, for dissemination to potential sponsors within and outside of squash.

SDA Director Of Development Andrew Cordova, a former top-20-ranked player and the long-time head pro at the Maryland Club, spearheaded this project in coordination with Andrew Hoag, the Production Director of Border Row Productions, a music and film production company based in Wilmington, NC. The latter conducted lengthy filming morning and afternoon sessions in which a half-dozen of the top pro doubles players — Ben Gould, Damien Mudge, Jonny Smith, Greg Park, Manek Mathur and James Stout — participated in drilling sessions, interviews and live action, from all of which Hoag will synthesize a three-minute clip featuring these first-tier standouts and dramatizing the dynamic athleticism for which doubles at this level has become known. The SDA is planning an aggressive campaign to rejuvenate the tour and enhance the professional schedule — a number of new sites have already been added, with several more in the pipeline as well — and this video will likely play an important contributory role in that concerted effort.
