The Maine Challenger brought the Cache_Seven Challenger Tour to Portland Community Squash for a $5,000 men’s event. Hosting professional doubles was a fitting fit for PCS, a program built around making squash and its wider community more accessible. Its community center offered a welcoming setting and an engaged local crowd.

Boston-based Greg Crane and Ryan Mullaney arrived as top seeds and were looking for their first SDA title. They had been building toward it for two seasons, with wins over Josh Hughes and Tor Christoffersen at the 2025 Hashim Khan Championships and over John Russell and Jaymie Haycocks at the 2025 Will Hartigan Memorial Big Apple Open. Second seeds Henry Parkhurst and Jacob Bassil, with their local connection, had the backing of the Maine crowd.

Both teams were tested on the way to the expected final. Parkhurst and Bassil were pushed in the quarterfinals by Jackson Smith and Jacob Koeppel, who took the second game before the second seeds closed out a 3–1 win. They were far more comfortable in the semifinals, beating Kevin Guadarrama and Mohsin Khan in straight games. Crane and Mullaney dropped a game in their semifinal against Deven Kanwal and Wyatt Khosrowshahi but controlled the fourth to come through 3–1.

The final was tighter than the 3–1 scoreline suggests. Parkhurst and Bassil won a tense opening game 15–14, and the third game also reached 14–14. This time Crane and Mullaney won the deciding point. Having levelled the match in the second, they took control and closed it out 15–9 in the fourth.

Elsewhere in the draw, Kanwal and Khosrowshahi came through the tightest quarterfinal of the event against James Mazzarelli and Allen Tompkins, edging the final game 15–14.

With the win, Crane and Mullaney turned two seasons of breakthrough results into silverware. The Maine Challenger showed what the Cache_Seven Challenger Tour is for: giving players a pathway to compete for titles.
