The Sleepy Hollow Country Club played host to the Sleepy Hollow Open, a $30,000 men’s SDA event and the penultimate stop on the 2025 season calendar. With a draw packed full of top-tier talent, all eyes were on an exciting new Australian pairing: Zac Alexander and Cameron Pilley.

Longtime friends and former PSA standouts, Alexander (career-high World No. 36) and Pilley (career-high World No. 11) brought a potent combination of experience, athleticism, and explosive shot-making to the event. Both known for their exceptional ball striking, the duo quickly became the team to watch as they powered through the draw with confidence and flair.

One of the most dramatic matches of the tournament came in the quarter-finals, where fourth seeds Khaml Cumberbatch and Sergio Martin, both well-known New York–area teaching pros, took on the Canadian pairing of George Crowne and Will Kuhn. Cumberbatch and Martin stormed to a 2–0 lead, only for Crowne and Kuhn to flip the script entirely. The Canadians clawed their way back to 2–2 and surged ahead in the fifth, looking poised to complete a remarkable comeback before the higher seeds steadied just in time.

Alexander and Pilley entered the event seeded to meet another newly formed team in the final: Mike Ferreira and Jaymie Haycocks, who moved into the No. 2 seed position following the withdrawal of Josh Hughes and Kyle Martino due to injury. But the storyline shifted when Ferreira and Haycocks were edged out in a very tight semi-final by rising stars Daelum Mawji and Charles Culhane.

For Mawji and Culhane, the win marked their first appearance in a final at this level, a major milestone and a clear indication of their steady upward trajectory. However, the championship match proved one-sided, as the young duo found themselves outmaneuvered by the Aussies’ superior experience, patience, and tactical decision-making. Mawji and Culhane are closing the gap quickly on the tour’s elite, but this final was a reminder of the consistency and shot selection demanded at the very top.

In true Sleepy Hollow style, the event concluded with the presentation of one of the most distinctive trophies on the tour: a bronze sculpture of the legendary headless horseman, a nod to the club’s logo and the folklore that defines the area.
